229 Squadron has an excellent relationship with Waitrose and when we asked if Waitrose would help us with our BBQ, they immediately said 'yes' and were extremely helpful.  Waitrose's contribution meant that we were able to enjoy some top quality burgers and sausages which went down extremely well with the cadets and their families.  It was a great event, so a big thank you to Waitrose.
A big "thank you" to all those that helped with the event and a special thanks to our cooks, Commodore Angus Ross and Mr Mark Howard.
This informal BBQ was proceeded by the Squadron's AGM.  The Chairman reported that the squadron and finances were in good health and the OC detailed some of the cadet's achievements this past year.  The highlight for guests at the meeting was confirmation that the minibus has been ordered and that delivery is expected in late August.  Last year was a record for DofE awards, BTEC's and gliding scholarships, it is hoped that minibus will make a step change in the opportunities available to cadets.
